In this article, we explain how people in Japan use Instagram and how the app can help you to promote your service\/product when entering the Japanese market.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Number of active users<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/datareportal.com\/reports\/digital-2026-japan\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> DataReportal\u2019s Digital 2026: Japan report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Instagram had a potential advertising audience of 63.2 million in Japan, based on data from late 2025. This was equivalent to 51.4% of Japan\u2019s population and 59.1% of its internet users. The platform\u2019s potential ad reach increased by 10.9% between October 2024 and October 2025, demonstrating continued growth in the audience available to advertisers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Demographics of active users<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instagram\u2019s adult advertising audience in Japan continues to skew female. According to the same report, <\/span><b>56.1% of its adult ad audience was female and 43.5% was male<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, with women accounting for the larger share of the platform\u2019s advertising audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Why is Instagram valuable in Japan<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Japanese people use hashtags for search and discovery and the number of times they search is three times more than the global average. At the same time, Japan has one of the highest rates of use for Stories. The same is true for click through ecommerce.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instagram is a useful platform for corporate branding and fan base marketing. It focuses on users\u2019 interests and intuitive communication through photos and videos.
